How do I find local businesses that have gone bankrupt?

I’m currently doing some research on my local area (Western New York) and trying to find businesses that have gone bankrupt and are no more. The purpose of this is to analyze their strategic roles so I can depict how I would have handled the business to steer it clear of bankruptcy. Where would you look to find some businesses?

Just drive up and down the streets. They are the ones that are boarded up, not open anymore. The ones that look like a 7-11, but have another business in them now. Talk to some of the older members of the community, I’m sure they can remember a few that used to be around. You might also try your town hall. They would have older tax records, with the businesses that used to be there too. Good Luck!
