How to pay off debt to a company that went bankrupt?

My husband is trying to clean his credit up. And we went on equifax and found he owed money to a jewelry company, but they are bankrupt now. He tried to call them but the phone number doesn’t work. Who do we call, or what do we do to get this resolved? Thank You, Miriah

Open a dispute with Equifax challenging ownership, if the jeweler is out of business, then they will not be able to verify the debt and it will be removed from your husbands history.
