What is the best way to file bankruptcy if you do not have assets?
I have around k in debt. The debt is all personal debt and there are no co-signers nor assets in question. As for my personal assets, I don’t believe I really have any. My car is eight years old and I live in an apartment. I was considering filing bankruptcy before I begin a new job and get better pay (therefore, they do not see a bigger paycheck and feel I can pay back my loans).
So, the question is, what bankruptcy should I do if there are no assets which can be liquidated to pay back my debtors?
Funny how many people jump down someone’s neck when they talk about bankruptcy. I guess Enron, K-Mart and others are fine, but regular humans are not? Get a life, people…

I was in the same situation as you. You can view my q&a page to see some previous info I gave others about my ch. 7. Don’t believe what everybody says about the months of credit counsuling. You make one simple phone call for about 40 minutes to discuss your situation and budget, etc. Before it is time to go to court you make a second phone call and take a test (very simple, not pass or fail), and spend about 30 minutes on the phone again. Any questions feel free to email me at hansjill228@optonline.net.
New bankruptcy laws mandate counseling which can take months .

Not a popular answer but what is wrong with paying off your debt when you get the better job?
You may have trouble getting that "better job" after the BK. It will be on your credit report and many employeers check them now to determine ethics. You have none and it will show.
How can you spend 35k and not buy anything?
The new laws are a bit complicated-you should see an attorney and follow his advice.
